As vice president, Worldwide Data Management Development and general manager, IBM Silicon Valley Laboratory, Jeanette Horan is responsible for all data management software development in IBM, including the award-winning DB2 Universal Database product family, the Informix Database Portfolio, the Information Management System (IMS) product family, Business Intelligence solutions and Data Management Tools software.
From her office at the IBM Silicon Valley Laboratory in San Jose, California, Jeanette leads data management software development efforts at sites in the U.S., Canada, Germany and Japan.
As Senior Location Executive, Jeanette leads IBM's responsible corporate citizen efforts in the Silicon Valley. In 2004 she was named to the Board of Directors of the United Way of Silicon Valley, the Silicon Valley Manufacturers Group, executive sponsor for the San Jose EXITE (Exploring Interest in Technology and Engineering) girls camp program, and California Polytechnic State University Presidents Cabinet.
Jeanette joined IBM in 1998, and has held leadership positions within the Lotus brand and IBM Software Group Strategy since that time. Prior to this role, Jeanette lead all business and technical strategies for the Software Group, bringing together the different brands into one coherent strategy. She moved into her current position in December, 2003.
Prior to joining Lotus, Jeanette spent four years with Digital Equipment Corporation where she was Vice President of Development for the AltaVista business, bringing the Web search engine and suite of intranet products to market. Jeanette has more than 20 years experience in development and management roles in the computer industry, including four years as a key member of the executive management team for the Open Software Foundation.
Jeanette grew up in the United Kingdom, has a bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of London and an MBA from Boston University.
