Zilog, Inc.

Founded in 1974 when Federico Faggin (the leader of the group of three people that created the world’s first microprocessor at Intel) and Ralph Ungerman left Intel, Zilog developed the Z80 microcomputer.

It was used in such significant machines as the TRS-80 and many CP/M based systems. It is the world’s largest selling CPU and it (and its descendants) is still being used for many embedded systems applications.
