Description:
Many early microcomputer chess programs showed game progress on a Teletype print-out or CRT (cathode ray tube) display using only alphanumeric characters to represent game pieces and moves. By the late 1970s, graphics became available and allowed for the display of realistic game boards. Shown here is a print-out from an early version of Microchess, 1976.
