Description:
Soviet computer chess pioneer George Adelson-Velsky in Moscow. Adelson-Velsky developed an early computer chess program at the Moscow Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics (ITEP). It played a correspondence match with Stanford University's chess program led by John McCarthy in 1967. The four-game match was played over nine months and was won 3-1 by the Soviet program.
