Leonardo Torres y Quevedos and mathematician and MIT professor Norbert Wiener playing Quevedos' mechanical chess machine at the Cybernetics Fair in Paris. Torres y Quevedo was a Spanish engineer, mathematician, and inventor. In 1912 he built a mechanical chess playing machine which he demonstrated at the 1914 World's Fair in Paris and later built a second in 1920 (shown here).
