Description
In 1963 IBM shipped the 1311, the first disk drive using 14 inch diameter disks, which were contained in a 6 disk removable disk pack. Panel members had key roles in development of the 1311 and the 2311 drive which followed in 1965, doubling the capacity. The 14 inch disk and the removable disk pack established disk drive industry patterns which lasted a decade.
