Description

Following the introduction of the 5.25 inch floppy drive in 1976 by Shugart Associates, a 5.25 inch hard disk drive with the same physical size was introduced by the company now known as Seagate Technology in 1980. Panel members participated in the rapid build-up of 5.25 inch HDD shipments by numerous companies which soon followed, as personal computers became a rapidly growing market.
