Description
Members of the design and marketing/sales teams describe the development and introduction of Intel's first 8-bit microprocessor the 8008 (internal designation 1201) in the 1970 through 1971 period. The project started as a custom design for Computer Terminals Corporation, later renamed Datapoint. As the product was never used by Datapoint, Intel introduced it as a standard product. While sales of the 8008 were relatively modest it provided a market entry vehicle that laid the groundwork for the highly successful 8080 device.
