Description

Kenneth Ross describes his educational and professional career prior to founding Ross Systems, Inc. in 1972. He describes his intense desire to start his own company and how he founded Ross Systems to sell programming and system analysis services on a project basis. In 1976, Ross Systems began selling time-sharing services on a DEC PDP-1170 with software that supported financial planning and budgeting. Ross Systems became a pioneer in selling financially-oriented software on the DEC platform and, in the 1980s, their business model shifted from selling time-sharing services to selling packaged software. In 1988, the company was sold to a group of investors who planned to build a broad line of software products for the DEC platform.
