Description

Legendary computer architect and educator Fred Brooks describes his early education and work life at IBM. While there, he lead IBM’s most ambitious development program ever, the IBM System/360 mainframe computer system. Brooks describes the project and its milestones as well as challenges. Brooks then discusses his moving to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was founder and chairman of the computer science department. Finally, Brooks reflects on some of the perennial issues facing software developers and the management of large software projects.
