Paul Castrucci talks about his more than 30-year career with IBM from his design of transistors for driving core memories and his participation the development of the company's first semiconductor memory devices in 1965 to his role as plant manager of the Burlington, Vermont memory fabrication facility. He describes his recruitment by Charlie Sporck as chief operating officer of the SEMATECH semiconductor research consortium and his views on the qualities that make effective industry leaders.
