L.J. Sevin has played an oversized role in the founding and growth of the U. S. high tech industry. Mr. Sevin's early years in the semiconductor industry during the early years of Texas instruments included technical development in the fields of MOS integrated circuits, magnetic film memories and opto-electronics.L.J. Sevin left Texas Instruments to co-found Mostek Corporation which played a leadership role in the development of MOS memories. He was the company's CEO while it grew to a multimillion dollar corporation and was ultimately sold to United Technologies in 1980.
With the sale of Mostek, Mr. Sevin co-founded with Ben Rosen, the venture capital firm, Sevin Rosen Funds, based in Dallas, Texas. While at Sevin Rosen Funds, he was the founding investor in, among others, Compaq Computer, Cypress Semiconductor, Convex Computer and Cyrix Corporation.
Mr. Sevin holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in electrical engineering from Louisiana State University and has served on many corporate and academic boards of directors.
