Description

S. Fujii grew up in Osaka, Japan, the son of a “salary man” father who also repaired radios and TVs on the side. He developed an interest in electronics and mathematics. He chose to pursue electronics as it was more business oriented. He completed a master's degree at the university before joining Fujitsu Labs as his first job. His first assignment involved doing a two-dimensional analysis of very short channel transistors. His next assignment was in the area of DSP’s (digital signal processors) where he worked in a joint development team with their telecom group. He was the lead designer for Sun’s first integrated SPARC implementation in a custom Fujitsu gate array. After spending some time in the US with Fujitsu, Fujii-san eventually rose to be Chief Operating Officer of Fujitsu Semiconductor.
