The object consists of a tractor-feed, ink-jet printer, one removable battery pack, one used print cartridge, a user's manual, a print-cartridge brochure, and approximately 1 1/2 feet of edge-perforated (tractor-feed type) paper installed in the print-feed mechanism. The weight and dimensions of the battery pack are approximately 1 pound and 1 1/2 x 5 x 3 3/4 inches. The battery pack is designed to form part of the back panel of the printer, when it is installed. The battery pack has a latching mechanism and an unpolarized, 2-pin connector on the end that is exposed when the battery pack is installed in the printer. The other end of the battery pack has two flat-plate electrical terminals, each approximately 1/2-inch square, recessed below the surface. The battery pack has "Made in Singapore" molded into one face, but no other apparent markings. In particular, there is no indication of the voltage, storage, or power rating of the battery. The rear panel of the printer has a battery-pack bay, with an opening of approximately 1 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches. At the far (interior) end of the battery pack bay, are two coiled, cone-shaped spring terminals ("lantern-battery" type) that correspond to the flat-plate terminals of the battery pack. The rear panel of the printer has two HP-IL interface sockets, one labeled "IN" and the other labeled "OUT.". The upper left-hand corner of the top of the printer has three membrane-type, push-button switches and two indicator lamps. Two of these switches are beige and are labeled "LF" and "FF." The other switch is blue and is enclosed, with one of the indicator lamps, in a printed box. Above this box (towards the rear of the printer) is the other indicator lamp and the adjacent printed label, "PWR.". The object has a clear, dark gray dust cover that covers the print and paper-feed mechanisms, thus forming approximately half of the top surface of the printer, and that then is bent at approximately a 90-degree angle to form more than half of the front panel of the printer. This cover opens by pivoting toward the front around a detachable hinge formed by its lower edge and the upper edge of the front opening in the main case. The front label of the object is on the front panel of the dust cover. It is printed with "Hewlett Packard 2225B" and the "hp" logo. There is a printed summary of printer operating instructions and indicator-lamp codes on the inside of this same panel.
