Originally called the Joint AIEE_IRE Computer Conference. First held in Philadelphia (1951) and then New York City (1952) then expanded to an East Coast Joint Computer conference in the Fall and a West Coast Joint Computer conference in the Spring. First called AFIPS in 1961. Became national again in 1973 and called the National Computer Conference.
