Description

This interview is with four former Datapoint employees who have remained friends and professional colleagues for over 30 years: Jonathan Schmidt, John Murphy, Lewis Donzis and Henry Donzis. Jonathan was VP for Datapoint R&D from 1969 to 1985. John Murphy, while at Datapoint, developed ARCnet, an early networking system. The Donzis brothers were instrumental in many Datapoint systems products. After leaving Datapoint in 1985 the four started Performance Technology which developed add-on improvements for Datapoint systems. Performance Technology was bought by Bay/Nortel Networks in 1996. In 2001 they left Nortel and started PerfTech where they are currently developing web related products.

The interview contains colorful stories about the four men's R&D activities at Datapoint. Theirs is a unique partnership and they share many interesting stories about their personal involvement. They also provide insight into the growth and demise of the Datapoint Corporation. The interview highlights their individual personalities and how this contributed to their continuing collaboration.
