Description

Gordon Teal left Bell Labs to organize a research lab at TI where he hired a team of scientists and engineers led by chemist Willis Adcock to work on silicon transistors. Employing high-purity Dupont silicon, using the grown-junction technique they made their first successful silicon transistor on April 14, 1954. This TI type 905 device introduced in mid-1954 is displayed in its original shipping tube.
