Both tubes have 9 connector pins. "RAYTHEON", "U.S. ARMY - 12AX7", and "MADE IN U.S.A." are printed in red on the side of the tubes. The boxes are off-white with "U.S. ARMY 12AX7" printed in black on the top flap and "ONE EA. ELECTRON TUBE / U.S. ARMY 12AX7 / 21345-P-54-59(31) / MFG. BY RAYTHEON MFG. CO. / DATE PACKED 11/54" printed in black on one side panel and "THIS ELECTRON TUBE IS PHYSICALLY AND ELECTRICALLY SIMILAR TO THE CV-492 VALVE AND IN MOST APPLICATIONS SHOULD OPERATE SATISFACTORILY" on another side. Both boxes have an additional card stock insert that envelopes the tube.
