The object is a control panel for an IBM 1414 input/output synchronizer, which is part of an IBM 1410 system. This panel controls various operations: for example, SEND and RECEIVE, CHECK INSERT, and RESET. The panel is rectangular with two hinges on the right side and a door stop on the top. An irregularly shaped frame is attached to the bottom of the panel. The panel without the frame measures 15.5 inches by 24 inches. A white plastic grid embedded in the top of the panel contains indicator lights. The bottom of the panel contains various controls: for example, switches and dials. Electrical wires are mounted on the back of the panel. Most of the wires are yellow; some are black. The yellow wires have been bound together in various groupings and cut to stub length. Two mini-bundles have external connectors, each of which has 16 pins. Printed on two of the cloth tags is "KUPFRIAN MFG. DIV., ROBINSON TECHNICAL PRODUCTS INC, BINGHAMTON, N.Y."
