The object is a control panel for an IBM 1414 input/output synchronizer, which is part of an IBM 1410 system. This panel controls various operations: for example, START, STOP ON ERROR, ALL ONES, AMP BIAS, and LOCAL/REMOTE. The panel is rectangular with two hinges on the right side and a door stop on the top. An irregularly shaped frame protecting a counter device is attached to the bottom of the panel. The panel without the frame measures 15.5 inches by 24 inches. A lighter-color, plastic panel on the top of the main metal panel contains indicator lights. The bottom of the main metal panel contains various controls and connectors: for example, toggle switches, an indicator light, and a large cable connector socket. Electrical wires are mounted on the back of the panel. Most of the wires are yellow; some are black. The yellow wires have been bound together in various groupings and cut to stub length. Printed on one of the cloth tags is "KUPFRIAN MFG. DIV." Printed on a second cloth tag is "PARK ELECTRONICS."
