Description

Bill Carter does a wonderful job of describing his long and distinguished career in a variety of technical positions at Zilog and Xilinx, two of the most successful of Silicon Valley’s semiconductor companies. He was the eighth employee of Xilinx and the principle designer of its first product. Bill describes his close relationships with Ross Freeman and Bernie Vonderschmitt, founders of Xilinx and what he learned from each. He provides personal insights into what it was like to grow a company from founding to great success and the important lessons learned along the way.

Bill has retired from Xilinx and is pursuing personal technical interests and serves on the Board of Trustees of Santa Clara University.
