Description

Robert H. Norman was born and raised in New York. After service in the Navy and graduation from Oklahoma A&M, he joined Sperry Gyroscope where he introduced the use of semiconductors in logic design. He joined Fairchild Semiconductor in Mountain View, California in 1959 where he designed Micrologic, the first family of planar integrated circuits. Norman co-founded General Microelectronics (GM-e), the first company to manufacture commercial MOS integrated circuits in 1963. A second recording session is planned to cover the latter half of Mr. Norman's career.
