Joe Doupnik discusses his involvement in the Kermit file transfer protocol and communications program, among other projects. He begins the interview describing his career as a professor at the University of California, San Diego, University of Utah, Columbia University and the University of Oxford. Doupnik goes on to discuss how his collaboration in NASA Space Internet and Novell, a computer networking company, led him to discover Kermit, since it was a program that ran Control Program/Monitor (CP/M). He continues by recounting his experiences with Kermit, its use, and working with Frank de Cruz and others who worked on Kermit at Columbia University.
