Description

Alan Grebene was born and raised in Turkey and immigrated to the US to complete his higher education. He joined the Fairchild Semiconductor Research and Development Laboratory in Palo Alto in 1963 where he designed one of the first radiation-resistant analog integrated circuits. He moved to Sprague Electric in Massachusetts and then to Rensselaer University to teach and earn his Ph.D. On graduating he returned to California where he designed phase-locked loop ICs for Signetics before starting two analog-oriented semiconductor companies, Exar and Micro Linear. He later consulted for the principals of the Sequoia Capital VC fund and mentored start-up activities, including analog design tool vendor Symmetry Design Systems.
