Description

Photocopy.

"The Works Records System is a computer system designed to receive data, process it and provide information on demand. The system works entirely on-line and communicates with those who use it via Visual Display Units (VDU's) and printer terminals. The system handles numerical information which is available or can be derived at fixed time intervals of a shift, day, week, month, quarter and year. In principle it is not suitable for handling information which does not recur (one-off events) or recurs at unpredictable time intervals (breakdowns)." Section A , Sub-section 2.

"A fully functional, interactive, mainframe spreadsheet programmed entirely in IBM 360 Assembler using IBM 3270 VDU's and C.IC.S. Implemented at Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) Mond Division, Brunner House Northwich Cheshire, UK in 1974." From the donor.
