Description

Re-branded Sun workstation (SPACRStation 1) used as system console for Convex supercomputer. Alternative label copy: Hewlett-Packard Convex CPU, 1992 This is the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of one of the first Gallium Arsenide supercomputers, the Convex C3800. Peak performance of the eight processor version was 2GFLOPS and the machine supported 4GB of physical memory. ICs used in the machine were designed by Vitesse Semiconductor and could typically switch in about 160 picoseconds (0.160 nanoseconds). The machine was air-cooled.
