Overview
IPO (2003) -- This shot-on-DVD drama about the rise and fall of a San Francisco Mission District start-up takes in a range of citizens; the characters are everyone from an unbalanced homeless girl (Radha Lorca) to a ruthless exec (Kerry Gudjohnsen). All are involved in the creation of the initial public offering for Hot-Tot, a company that helps pick desirable genetic features ("We're in the peopling business"). Writer/director Daniel Gamburg shoots on digital beta but works hard to make the compositions cinematic, even by taking the production up to Tahoe. Visually the film works, and there are more than a few affecting performances. Directed by Daniel Gamburg. Featuring: Kerry Gudjohnsen; Matthew Gardner; Mark Rachel; Frank Torrano; Caridad Frutos.
