A Memorable Evening
The Fellow Awards Banquet 2001 event was a brillant evening with almost 400 attendees applauding the achievements of three outstanding people in the computer technology world. The Honorees were Frederick P. Brooks, for his contributions to computer architecture, operating systems, and software engineering; Jean E. Sammet, for her contributions to the field of programming languages and its history; and Maurice V. Wilkes, for his contributions to computer technology, including early machine design, microprogramming, and the Cambridge Ring network.

Prior to the banquet and awards ceremony, a reception and "Computing in Switzerland" exhibit highlighted artifacts that were donated to the Museum by various Swiss individuals and organizations. The donations were initated and coordinated by the Swiss Science and Technology Office in San Francisco and shipped courtesy of PRS Presence Switzerland.


Postcard gifts were given to attendees.
