"Mom Loved Him Best": Bert & Ivan Sutherland, with Bob Sproull
Bob Sproull

Bob Sproull

Bob Sproull took his camera to physics class one morning as an undergraduate and...well...became entwined with the Sutherland brothers for the next thirty years. He went off to graduate school in computer science at Stanford, worked on the Alto systems and printers at Xerox PARC, joined the faculty at Carnegie Mellon, then drifted off to work with the brothers in their own little consulting company. They all wound up at Sun Microsystems in 1990 as Sun Labs was starting. Bob started the Massachusetts branch of the lab reporting to Bert.
