Dan Warmenhoven is a renowned technology and storage industry executive with a history of driving growth and customer innovation. Warmenhoven served as CEO of NetApp, the Fortune 500 storage and data management company, from 1994 to 2009; and as executive chairman from 2009 to 2014. Under Warmenhoven’s leadership, NetApp grew to become a multibillion-dollar company and a recognized market leader in networked storage, a concept the company pioneered. Warmenhoven led the company’s initial public offering in November 1995. Today, NetApp has over 4,000 employees and distribution channels in over 120 countries.
Warmenhoven has received the Morgan Stanley Leadership Award for Global Commerce, was named one of the "50 Most Powerful People in Networking" by Network World in 2006, and won the prestigious National Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2004. He is a director of Bechtel Group Inc. and Palo Alto Networks. In 2001 BusinessWeek named Warmenhoven one of its "Top 25 Managers" for the year, and in 2007 he received an honorary degree from Santa Clara University for his dedication to global business and technology leadership. In 2015 Warmenhoven was appointed to the board of directors of Cohesity, a pioneer of hyper-converged secondary storage. Previously, he served as chairman, president, and CEO of Network Equipment Technologies. He is a veteran of Hewlett Packard and IBM.
Warmenhoven holds a BS degree in electrical engineering with honors from Princeton University.
