Ray Rothrock joined RedSeal, a cyber security firm, as CEO in February 2014. Prior to RedSeal he was a managing general partner at Venrock since 1988. There he led their Internet investment strategy and initiated the firm’s energy investment strategy. As a venture capitalist for more than two decades, Rothrock personally discovered, created, and guided more than 50 companies in the Venrock portfolio through their early stages of formation and emerging growth. This resulted in seven IPOs in the Venrock portfolio.

Rothrock is on the board of Check Point Software Technology Ltd. and Team8, both Tel Aviv–based companies, in addition to a number of private companies. He is a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Corporation board and the board of Woodside Priory School. Rothrock previously served as a trustee of the Texas A&M Foundation and was chair of the National Venture Capital Association (2012). He is a patron of the arts, a trustee of TheatreWorks in Palo Alto, and a bassist in the band, Up and to the Right.

Rothrock holds a BS in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University, a MS in nuclear engineering from MIT, and an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School. He is a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M.
