Steve Smith is a senior advisor at Arma Partners. He served 14 years as managing director and vice chairman of Broadview International, a leading global mergers and acquisitions advisor and private equity investor in the information technology, communications, and media industries. Earlier in his career, he held executive roles in management consulting at McKinsey & Company, Fairchild, Amdahl, and Reference Technology.
Smith is an acknowledged thought leader on topics relating to growth and shareholder value creation through external corporate development. He has been a guest lecturer at the Harvard Business School, the Graduate School of Business at Stanford, and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He has been inducted into the Engineering Hall of Fame at Oregon State University and received a John W. Gardner Award for Leadership in 2012 from the American Leadership Forum.
Smith is on the boards of the Computer History Museum, That Man May See, and the Churchill Club. He has served on the boards of Sendmail Inc., the American Leadership Forum, E-Tek Dynamics, the Information Industry Association, the Association for Corporate Growth—Silicon Valley chapter, and the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Smith holds an MBA degree from Harvard Business School and an engineering degree with high honors from Oregon State University.
