Museum Registration Intern

Summary
The Registration Intern reports to the Associate Registrar and is responsible for assisting with the accessioning of new artifacts into the Museum collection. Interns will work with the museum's collections management databse Mimsy XG, will be trained in artifact handling, and will become familiar with the day-to-day responsiblities of a Museum Registrar.
This internship is available on an ongoing basis (may be repeated) and is eligible for graduate school credit. Interns are encouraged to adopt an existing project or develop a thesis project while on-site.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications, Attributes and Skills:
- A currently enrolled (or recently graduated within one year) graduate student working towards a degree in Museum Studies or IMLS.
- Knowledge of collections management processes, accessioning principles and standards.
- Detail-oriented and ability to be flexible.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills; strong command of the English language.
- Proficiency with Windows and database software.
Preferred Qualifications, Attributes and Skills:
- Knowledge of Mimsy XG database software.
All work must be done on-site. Hours are flexible within 8 am - 6 pm, Monday - Friday. Internships are offered for a minimum of 12 to 18 hours a week with a commitment of 3 months. For this internship, CHM offers a stipend of $1,000 over 3 months for 12 hours/week worked or $1,500 over 3 months for 18 hours/week worked.
The Computer History Museum is located in Mountain View and is easily accessible by public transit.
