Summary

 The Computer History Museum has a number of paid internships for archival students. These might include processing a small collection, conducting an inventory of a large collection, helping with a collections move, digital projects and metadata creation. Opportunities are available to work with the document, software, still or moving images collections. Please contact us at the email below for further information about current opportunities.

The intern will be supervised by the Senior Archivist and/or Documents Archivist.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate student working towards a Master’s of Library Science degree with coursework or experience in archives, cataloging or museum studies
  • Detail-oriented and ability to be flexible
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Proficiency with Windows and database software
  • 12 to 18 hours a week for 3 months. All work must be done onsite. Hours are flexible within an 8 am to 6 pm work day
  • Sense of humor


Preferred:

  • Knowledge of database software
  • Knowledge of cataloging principles and standards

How to Apply

The internship is available on an ongoing basis. We offer a stipend ($1,000 to $1,500 depending on the number of hours per week) for the entire three month internship period. This internship can be for school credit. The stipend is offered only to graduate students regardless of whether or not they get school credit. The Computer History Museum is accessible by public transit.
