Summary
The Computer History Museum seeks an Education Programs Coordinator to provide administrative support for its Education Programs. The Education Programs Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Education but will also receive assignments form other Education staff; s/he interacts frequently with colleagues throughout the Museum as well. Duties will primarily be in the areas of program logistics and coordination.
The Museum offers exhibitions, programs, and other educational resources to a very diverse audience; the Education Programs Coordinator must become familiar with these and be able to communicate and support the mission of the Museum. CHM is a collaborative culture; as with all staff, the Education Programs Coordinator acts to support collaboration, anticipation, open communication, trust, and respect among peers. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing museum professional, as it will provide exposure to museum and education professionals and practices involved in the growth of a rapidly expanding institution. This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week; Mon-Fri @ 4 hours per day is preferred.
Responsibilities
The Education Programs Coordinator will support…
- Scheduling and logistics for Education programs
- Ensuring smooth and timely communication with volunteers, teachers, donors, and other collaborators and partners
- Managing department statistics and reporting the data in an accessible and meaningful way
- Stewarding department records, including detailed meeting minutes
- Implementing and managing community surveys
- Coordinating and maintaining materials and supplies
- Securing and organizing resources
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree, preferred area of study in education, history, STEM education, museum studies, or psychology
- Detail-oriented, organized, reliable, punctual, and independent; excellent follow-through on projects and assignments
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Flexible; able to adjust and adapt quickly as projects change and develop
- Experience with museum education not required, but interest in the field is definitely a plus
- Competent with Windows software
