The Exponential Center at the Computer History Museum captures the legacy —and advances the future—of entrepreneurship and innovation in Silicon Valley and around the world. The Center explores the people, companies, and communities that are transforming the human experience through technology innovation, economic value creation, and social impact. The Center’s work spans five areas of integrated initiatives: collections and exhibits, research and insights, events, education, and thought leadership. This is an opportunity to join the team at an early stage as Exponential Center Content Producer/Curriculum Developer to create high impact, innovative, and illuminating content and education materials. The Content Producer/Curriculum Developer is responsible for producing and managing print and multimedia content and education curriculum that support the Exponential Center’s communications, interpretation, research/insights, and education initiatives. This team member will serve as a key contributor to Exponential Center outcomes for reaching university, young professional, executive, and adult public audiences in person at the museum as well as via online and multi-channel distribution channels. For content production, responsibilities include working with the Exponential team, curators and subject matter experts, and in-house and contract media teams to develop written and multimedia content, ranging from short form (such as blog posts, website content, or short videos) to longer, in-depth output (such as articles for books to video documentaries).

For curriculum development, work will include collaboration with Exponential and CHM team members as well as company executives and investors as well as academic partners to develop educational materials which feature the Museum’s rich collection of oral histories, artifacts and content from events. Deliverables will include range from video clips for teaching to discussion guides with accompanying video clips and/or artifacts and more.

The ideal candidate will be a creative team member with a passion for and working knowledge of innovation and entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley and around the world. Superior oral and written communication skills for creating compelling and engaging content are key for success. Project management experience, creative problem-solving, intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm for education, and demonstrated team skills are a must. Visual, media, and digital expertise preferred. This role reports to the Exponential Center Executive Director.

The ideal candidate will

  • Develop high impact creative content and educational curriculum and content to serve and expand Exponential Center audiences, including business executives, next gen entrepreneurs and innovators, as well as adult public
  • Serve as a key contributor to delivering content for Exponential Center insights and educational programs including at the museum and to global audiences via multi-channel distribution
  • Develop content, from short form (e.g. blog posts, website content, or short videos) to longer, in-depth output (e.g. articles for publications to video documentaries)
  • Develop educational discussion guides, curriculum and other educational materials from Museum’s rich and growing collection of oral histories, artifacts and live events
  • Create a robust project pipeline from inception to completion, including planning, development, production, distribution and delivery
  • Write compelling text for a variety of audiences, and across a variety of media
  • Oversee, coordinate, track and manage collaboration with the internal team and external partners to ensure that project goals are completed on time. Adjust and communicate priorities according to objectives
  • Work closely with CHM marketing and editorial team to ensure that all written output is aligned with Center/Museum style and voice guidelines
  • Collaborate with CHM marketing, media, and IT teams as well as strong external network to create and distribute content across multiple platforms including web, print, and social media
  • Directly recruit, negotiate with, and manage local and remote design and production contractors/partners, as needed
  • Consistently deliver exceptional work across all channels
  • Take projects to the finish line on time and within budget
  • Collaborate on overall portfolio of content with multiple teams and partners
  • Manage project communications, providing proactive status updates and supplying timely responses to Exponential/CHM team and multiple collaborators
  • Develop strategies and tools to prototype, test, evaluate, and improve output
  • Support overall Center and CHM objectives for visibility and impact
  • Additional responsibilities as directed by Exponential Center Executive Director


Required Background, Experience, and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years relevant experience, such as case writer, content creator, curriculum developer, or marketing and communications
  • Proven ability to translate organizational needs and executive direction into concrete project plans, timelines, content and finished products
  • Working knowledge of high technology innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Creative thinker and problem-solver with an enthusiasm for people, learning and teaching
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with multiple teams of collaborators
  • Experience developing content or education curriculum for university-students, and/or executives, and/or adult public audiences
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofing skills
  • Strong team leadership experience and excellent interpersonal skills to build team camaraderie
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as well as to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work within deadlines
  • Competency in graphic design, multimedia preferred
