Julia is the Head of Engineering at Tindie where she not only writes code everyday, but also occasionally solders electrical components. In her prior lives she was CTO of WeddingLovely (a 500 Startups alum), product manager at a mid-stage startup, VigLink, and a research engineer as part of one of the world's top User Experience Research groups at IBM Almaden Research. She holds a BS and MS in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she specialized in both distributed systems and human computer interaction. When she's not coding she is trail running, speaking at conferences such as the O'Reilly Web 2.0 Expo and PyCon, and mentoring female developers at the Hackbright Academy.
