Description: Expensive Desk Calculator was one in a series of "expensive" programs that permitted the $120,000 PDP-1 to mimic the functions of commonly found machines, such as electric typewriters, calculators and tape recorders. These programs, largely undertaken by MIT students, demonstrated the interactivity of the PDP-1. This program allowed users to simulate a mechanical desk calculator and was distibuted by DECUS (the Digital Equipment Computer Users Society).
