Description: Expensive Typewriter was the first of a series of "expensive" programs that permitted the $120,000 PDP-1 to mimic the functions of commonly found machines, such as electric typewriters, calculators and tape recorders. These programs, largely undertaken by MIT students, demonstrated the interactivity of the PDP-1.
