People

Many talented people worked on the development, marketing, manufacture and support of the IBM 1620. We'd like to recognize as many of these individuals as possible. Here are the ones we currently know of:

IBM 1620 Development - Endicott, New York

R. F. Dean -- Advanced Systems Planning. Co-author of the "Preliminary Functional Specifications - CADET Computer" document.

IBM 1620 Development - Poughkeepsie, New York

R. C. Jackson -- CADET Engineering Planning. Co-author of the "Preliminary Functional Specifications - CADET Computer" document.

IBM 1620 Development - San Jose, California

Joe Crespo -- Joe was a development engineer working on the 1620 I/O subsystems. He was one of four engineers who helped transition the project from Poughkeepsie to San Jose. One of his projects was a selectric typewriter replacement on the Model 1. It was later decided to wait until the Model 2 for this feature.

Al Desimone -- Mechanical designer.

Paul Hammer -- Engineer, core memory.

Gene Handloff -- Engineer, replaced all triggers with latches (C level?).

Joe Hazlitt -- Product analyst, involved with engineering release to manufacturing.

Norm Ireton -- IBM 1620 Engineering Department Manager.

Andy Jamieson -- Technician.

Fred Jones -- Engineer, floating point, 1622 logic.

John Kyffin -- Program manager.

Dick Lamy -- Engineer, 1620 Model 2.

Bob Masterson -- Engineer, circuit analysis.

Gary McGill -- Technician.

John Monday -- IBM 1620 Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Billy J. Mooney -- Electrical Engineering Manager, Core memory, 1622, 1623.

William Nelson -- Technician.

Mel Olsen -- Engineer, 1620 & 1710 & 1720 (a preproduction 1710). Mel was one of the four engineers who went to Poughkeepsie and brought back CADET.

Sam Riley -- Product analyst, involved with engineering release to manufacturing.

Joe Russo -- Product analyst, involved with engineering release to manufacturing.

Sam San Filippo -- Technician.

Al Shugart -- Head of 1620 development in San Jose.

Dick Tate -- Engineer.

Paul Zinn -- Mechanical designer.
