HW Completed Items




The work of restoring the physical 1620 hardware began on January 9th.

Below is the current list of tasks that were COMPLETED on each work day. Clicking on the date will take you to a more detailed summary of the work day and what was done.

January 9, 1999

  1. Make space in the warehouse for the 1620 and move it in there.

  2. Set up workbench with necessary parts, tools and instruments.

  3. Clean out the dust & dirt from the machine.

January 16, 1999

  1. Install 208v and 110v power.

  2. Get the typewriter cams [motor frozen] on the top of 'C' gate turning smoothly.

January 23, 1999

  1. Remove, inspect and inventory air filters.

  2. Check the RC snubbers.

  3. Make drawing of new work area power lines labelled with the wire colors and power line phases.

February 6, 1999

  1. Hook up 208v power cable to the 1620 (and the matching outlet).

  2. Clean the typewriter relays.

  3. Set up a PC for emulation use.

February 20, 1999

  1. Trace out the paper tape interface and determine which SMS cards are missing.

March 20, 1999

  1. Change power jumpers in the machine for 208v operation.

  2. Identify SMS card type in every slot and record on schematics.

  3. Replace the cable ties on the main power line with clamps.

April 17, 1999

  1. Get the fans working.
