Laposky, a mathematician and artist, created early electronic art he called “Oscillons” by photographing an oscilloscope screen filled with moving images created by analog electronics.
Drawing with Computers
Graphics have been part of computing since the 1940s. Early efforts were simple—primarily test programs or after-hours projects. But as computers grew more powerful, the realism and speed of computer-created images steadily increased.
This spawned a cornucopia of new uses, from animation to computer-aided design. It also revolutionized the computer-user interface, transforming computing into a visual experience.
