Kirsten oversees the work of the collections management staff, exhibit developers and curators. She joined the Museum in 2000 and has played a key role in developing the strategic direction of CHM, including the collections growth and access strategy, exhibition planning, and development of an online collections and exhibitions presence.

Kirsten has over seventeen years experience in the planning, development and management of major new museum projects, helping a large number of important museums realize their visions. Among such award winning institutions are the Holocaust Museum in New York City, with its novel approach to the presentation of oral history; and the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Museum in Connecticut with its groundbreaking design for the hearing and visually impaired.

Prior to joining CHM, Kirsten worked for a variety of museums and exhibit design and architecture firms in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Some of her major museum projects include: Pretend City Children's Museum, CA; Long Island Children's Museum, NY; Olympic City, 100 Years of History, GA; International Tennis Hall of Fame, RI; Crayola Art Center, PA; and the British Museum of Natural History, Mammal Hall, London, UK.

Kirsten holds an M.A. in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto and a B.A. in History from Queen's University, Canada. She is a member of the American Association of Museums, the Association of Science and Technology Centers, the National Association of Museum Exhibitions; and the AAM Committees on Audience Research and Evaluation; Museum Media & Technology; and Museum Education.
