Charles House

Charles House is director, Media X, at Stanford University, and a Senior Research Scholar in the Human Sciences and Technology Advanced Research program there. Formerly, he was director of the Intel Virtual Collaboratory research effort and also director of Societal Impact of Technology for Intel Corporation. He spent 29 years at Hewlett-Packard in a variety of management and technical roles, including five years as corporate engineering director, and he also was with Informix, Veritas, and Dialogic corporations.

House is currently chairman of the board for Attensity Corporation and TII Networks (NASDAQ: TIII) He is a past president of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and an IEEE Fellow. House maintains a management consulting service, InnovaScapes, which is concerned with creativity and innovation. He is currently completing a book about Hewlett-Packard’s business history, Taking Measure: Business Innovation and Transformation.

House has a B.S. in engineering physics from the California Institute of Technology; an M.S.E.E. from Stanford University; an M.A. in the history of science from the University of Colorado and an M.B.A. (Strategic Studies) from Western Behavioral Sciences Institute (now the University of California, San Diego).
