Judy Bruner serves on the board of directors of Applied Materials, Rapid7, Seagate Technology and Varian Medical Systems. She is chair of the audit committee for Varian and a member of the audit committee for Applied Materials, Rapid7, and Seagate Technology. At Applied Materials, she also serves as chair of the corporate governance and nominating committee. Ms. Bruner transitioned to the role of professional director in 2016 after a career in high technology operating roles. Ms. Bruner also serves on the board of trustees of the Computer History Museum.
Ms. Bruner was executive vice president of administration and chief financial officer of SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash storage solutions, from 2004 to 2016, when the company was sold to Western Digital. At SanDisk, she was responsible for finance, investor relations, information technology, legal and facilities. Prior to joining SanDisk as CFO, Ms. Bruner served as a member of SanDisk’s board of directors from 2002 to 2004. From 1999 to 2004, Ms. Bruner served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Palm, Inc., a provider of handheld computing and communications solutions. Ms. Bruner was responsible for executing the Palm separation from 3Com Corporation and the Palm IPO in 2000.
Prior to Palm, Ms. Bruner spent 11 years at 3Com, with roles including corporate controller, vice president of finance for enterprise systems and corporate treasurer. Prior to 3Com, Ms. Bruner was chief financial officer at Ridge Computers, a privately held company, and she began her career in 1980 at Hewlett-Packard Company where she held a variety of financial positions.
Ms. Bruner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1980 and a Master of Business Administration degree from Santa Clara University in 1986.
