Description

This illustration appeared on the cover of Time Magazine March 25 in 1952. It depicted Harvard University's Mark III computer as a stern eletronic navy officer and reflected how people thought of computers as "giant brains" or machines that could think. The drawing originated in 1949. Written on verso side in pencil is "Mark III" and "P4036". Stamped in red lettering is "Harvard University Cruft Laboratory Photographic Dept. 29 Oxford Street Cambridge, Mass. 02138" and "Negative No. AC-924" and "Date March 25, 1952"
