Description

From University Video Communications' catalog:

"This talk surveys a number of recent results of competitive analysis that have proved useful to practitioners. A promising direction of research is the design of competitive algorithms that perform well against a statistical adversary, adapting to input as they go. The directions for future research are a part of a bigger plan of taking expertise in the design and analysis of algorithms, in competitive analysis and probabilistic analysis, to design, evaluate and implement policies for managing computer systems of all types. The opportunity for exciting research that comes from bridging the gaps between subdisciplines in computer science, as well as other fields, is enormous."
