Thsi is a black and white image of J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly being presented with the "Modern Pioneers in Creative Industry" medal. Eckert is second from right wearing a bow tie and suit and smiling at the camera. He is holding up the award with his left hand. John Mauchly is second from left wearing glasses and looking at the award and smiling. He is wearing a suit and tie. The man on the far left is Dr. Frederick L. Hovde ans is looking at the camera. The man on the far right is the National Association of Manufacturers Chairman J. Robert Flour. He is holding the award with his left hand and smiling at the camera.
Written on the affixed press release sheet is "News from the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MANUFACTURERS NEW YORK, Dec. 22 -- The research team of (center, R to L) J. Presper Eckert vice president, UNIVAC Division, Sperry Rand Corporation, and John W. Mauchly of Mauchly Associations Inc., accepts the cherised 'Modern Pioneers in Creative Industry' medal, symbolic of an outstanding contribution to research and development...". This image was taken at the Grand Ballroom in the Waldorf-Astoria. There is a scribble mark in pencil on verso side of image that looks like a signature but is unreadable. Written in pencil on small white round label on original protective sleeve is "1255-15".
