This is a black and white front view image of the Illinois Automatic Computer (Illiac I) as it was first assembled. This floor standing machine is almost as tall as the ceiling in the room and connected to a ventilation shaft at the top. Several wires and components can be seen through the open window doors. Light is coming from the direction of the camera. Verso side of image has writing in black pen stating "Front view 1952 #2" near the top left corner. Also on verso side in pencil is "P4059" in pencil near the top left corner. The identification sheet dated 1975-02-27 is from the DEC museum collection. The sheet contains several fields with some information typed in. There is handwriting in pencil on the top left of the form stating "Check to see if duplicate of Illiac I - if not return GB". The data sheets lists the original manufacturer or designer as the United States Navy Ordvac - Ordnance in 1949.
