The press release sheet that the picture is attached to states "ICI's 'Digital Paper' is a write-once optical data storage medium. Data are written and read using one or more laser beam(s). Once written, the data are functionally permanent so records cannot be accidentally or deliberately erased or altered. The medium is extremely stable under a wide range of environmental conditions, making it ideally suited for archival storage applications.
